The Minister for Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares Bueno, today reaffirmed Spain's commitment to academic excellence and innovation through the Prince of Asturias Distinguished Visiting Professorship, during the celebrations for its 25th anniversary.
Albares attended the event alongside His Majesty the King, and took the opportunity to highlight the role of the Prince of Asturias Distinguished Visiting Professorship as an expression of cultural and educational diplomacy, an essential area of Spanish foreign policy.
He also reiterated that the close bond uniting both countries is reflected in the shared values expressed through this professorship, such as humanity, understanding, the promotion of talent, truth and reason.
The minister thanked the professors, students and researchers who have participated in this project for playing a vital role, as well as the ambassadors who, over the past 25 years, have worked tirelessly to strengthen ties between Spain and the United States.
Prince of Asturias Distinguished Visiting Professorship
The Prince of Asturias Distinguished Visiting Professorship at Georgetown University is an academic initiative that promotes the dissemination of Spanish science, culture and research in the United States, strengthening ties in different fields between the two countries.
Established in 1999, it is the result of a cooperation agreement between the Endesa Foundation, the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, Georgetown University and the Spanish Embassy in the United States.
