The Minister for Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares, visited today the site that will house Casa Asia's new headquarters in the Pedralbes complex in Barcelona, after a presentation from the technical team overseeing its development.
Together with representatives from the Generalitat de Catalunya and Barcelona City Council, Albares visited the two pavilions that will host the activities for the new Casa Asia. One will house the offices, while the other will be home to the public spaces, such as the auditorium, media library and lecture halls.
‘25th anniversary’
The new headquarters in Pedralbes will raise Casa Asia's profile in time for its 25th anniversary, which will be commemorated next year on 9 November. An agreement was signed in 2001 by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation with the Generalitat de Catalunya and the Barcelona City Council, under which it was arranged that the headquarters would be located in Barcelona.
Casa Asia is the main public diplomacy organisation on Asia-Pacific in Spain and a meeting point for all actors with an interest in this geographical area. Its mission is to promote knowledge and relations with this crucial region of the world.
Casa Asia collaborates in the design of open, innovative and sustainable societies, thanks to support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, which is the driving force, together with the Generalitat de Catalunya and the City Councils of Barcelona and Madrid, behind this Consortium.
