Statement on elections in Ecuador

The Government of Spain congratulates Daniel Noboa on his election as President of the Republic of Ecuador, as well as the Ecuadorian people for their democratic participation in the second round of elections.

 

Spain welcomes the peaceful conduct of the elections, which was attended by international observer missions and demonstrated the civic commitment of the Ecuadorian people to democracy.

 

Spain reaffirms its commitment to the fraternal relations of friendship and cooperation that unite us with Ecuador, and will work with the Ecuadorian authorities in favour of sustainable development, the defence of democracy and the protection of the rights of migrants.

 

Spain will continue to accompany Ecuador as a sister country in Ibero-America, both bilaterally and in regional and international forums.​
