Spain welcomes the decision of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia to officially recognise the State of Palestine

This latest decision joins a growing international consensus on recognition as an indispensable step towards making the two-state solution possible, with the ultimate goal of achieving peace in the Middle East.

A growing number of countries in the international community are calling for a necessary balance in negotiations between the parties within the framework of such a solution, and for the existence of a viable Palestinian state that satisfies the legitimate national aspirations of Palestinian citizens and meets the equally legitimate security aspirations of Israeli citizens.

Spain is committed to continuing to work with Slovenia, the parties, and the international community to make the two-state solution a reality and to achieve peace in the region.
