The Government of Spain extends its congratulations to the newly elected President of Paraguay, Mr. Santiago Peña, and conveys its best wishes for the new political chapter that is now opening in the country. It also wishes to extend its congratulations to the candidates elected in the elections for deputies, senators, governors and departmental councils held simultaneously, and to the people of Paraguay as a whole for their civic spirit and the pacific conduct of the elections.
Spain reaffirms its commitment to continue maintaining a close relationship with the government of Paraguay, to deepen its bilateral agenda and to work jointly in the Ibero-American and multilateral fields with the new government, in particular as a partner for the country's sustainable development.
