The Emir of Qatar and his wife will be received by Their Majesties, the King and Queen of Spain, who will offer a gala dinner in their honour. During his stay in Spain, aside from a meeting with H.M. the King, the Emir will meet with the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, and visit the Upper House of Parliament, where the Speakers of the Lower and Upper Houses, Meritxell Batet and Ander Gil, will present him with the respective Medals of the Lower and Upper Houses. He will also visit Madrid City Council, where the city’s mayor, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, will present him with the Gold Key to the City of Madrid.
This visit at the highest level will raise bilateral relations between the Kingdom of Spain and the State of Qatar to a strategic level, with the signing of agreements and memoranda of understanding in various fields of collaboration, including the economy, investments, education, justice, health and science, among others.
