During his stay in Puerto Rico from 24 to 26 January, King Felipe will hold a meeting with the Governor of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Pedro Pierluisi, at Santa Catalina Palace and will take part in an event in the City Council of San Juan chaired by the Mayor of the capital, Miguel Romero.
His Majesty the King is also due to inaugurate the Economic and Business Forum, which will include the presence of Spanish and Puerto Rican business owners, and to hold a meeting with representatives of the Spanish community in Puerto Rico at Spain House. His Majesty the King will also make a series of visits of a cultural nature to exhibitions on Juan Ramón Jiménez and the legacy of Pau Casals, as well as to San Juan Museum and San José Church.
The presence of King Felipe in San Juan highlights the close relations between Spain and the United States and particularly with Puerto Rico – a state with which it has special historical, human and cultural ties. This underlines the sound relations that have intensified over recent years, both from a political and from a socio-economic standpoint.
His Majesty the King will be accompanied by the Minister for Industry, Trade and Tourism, Reyes Maroto, and the State Secretary for Foreign and Global Affairs, Ángeles Moreno Bau.
