Martínez Belío was received at the Cabinet Office by National Security Adviser, Jonathan Powell, with whom he discussed international security, particularly Ukraine, the United States, China, and the Middle East.
The Secretary of State met with his Foreign Office counterparts: Stephen Doughty (responsible for Europe and North America), Lord Collins of Highbury (responsible for Africa and Cooperation), and Catharine West (responsible for the Indo-Pacific). They discussed bilateral relations, exchanged views on the Sahel, North Africa, and the Indo-Pacific, and reviewed the global situation and multilateral cooperation.
The Spanish diplomat discussed geopolitics and European security with leading British think tanks and Roula Khalaf, editor of the Financial Times. He also met with Baroness Minouche Shafik and Professor Ngaire Woods, who are responsible for the Foreign Office's review of the Defense and Foreign Policy Strategy. Finally, the Secretary of State learned about the investment plans and strategies of major Spanish companies with interests in the United Kingdom.
