Both Ministers expressed the excellent bilateral relationship in the field of defence, and their willingness to increase formal dialogue. “We share the will to exercise our responsibility and not remain passive ahead of the enormous security challenges that we face,” said Minister Robles.
Both delegations exchanged views on Ukraine, highlighting the "continued, firm and unequivocal" commitment of the two countries against the Russian invasion. They also addressed the worrying situation in Sudan, the importance of stability in Africa, and the upcoming NATO summit in Lithuania. It is important for Spain to maintain the focus on deterrence and defence against Russia, but also to have a broad vision to meet challenges in all directions, including the Mediterranean and the South.
