Miguel Delibes was one of the leading figures of post-Civil War Spanish literature. Several of his works have been adapted into plays or have been turned into films, winning awards at the Cannes Film Festival among others.
Delibes was an example of human values: he upheld democracy in Spain’s 20th century and the values of education and tolerance in his book “Heretic”.
He was also a pioneer claiming for respect for the rural world during the Spanish urbanization of the 20th century in his book “The Path”.
He refounded regionalism in literature, through his admiration for Castile, as he wrote in his book “Old stories of old Castile”.
