The Schengen visa is issued to third-country nationals listed in Annex I of Regulation (EU) 2018/1806.This visa allows the holder to stay in the Schengen area for up to 90 days (in any 180-day period) for the purposes of tourism, business, visiting family, medical treatment, studies, training placements or volunteer activities that last under 3 months, or for other non-lucrative activities. It also allows transit through the territory and airports.
PROCEDURE FOR VISA APPLICATION AT THE EMBASSY OF SPAIN IN HANOI
LEGITIMATE SUBJECT: Applicants must personally lodge their visa applications. Applications for children under 18 shall be lodged by their legal representatives, but the children will still need to be present. When receiving the visa application, photos and fingerprints of the visa applicant will be collected. Finger-printing is exempt for applicants under 12 years of age and applicants who have been fingerprinted within the last 59 months. However, if the fingerprints are of poor quality, the applicant will have to retake them.

VISA FEE: The applicable visa fees can be found at the following link: TABLE OF CONSULAR SERVICE FEES (number 14a). Applicants between the ages of 6 and 11 are entitled to a reduced fee (refer to number 15a of the above fee table). A service fee will also be applied to visa applications submitted through the BLS visa application centre (the service fee can be found in the line immediately below the number 17b in the consular service fee table). Additionally, the BLS center also offers a range of optional and voluntary add-on services to its clients. Visa fees will be waived in the following cases:
children under 6 years
EU-family members
holders of diplomatic passports (in all cases) or holders of official passports traveling for official purposes,
school pupils, students, postgraduate students and accompanying teachers who undertake stays for the purpose of study or educational training
researchers from third countries travelling for the purpose of carrying out scientific research as defined in Recommendation No 2005/761/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 28 September 2005 to facilitate the issue by the Member States of uniform short-stay visas for researchers from third countries travelling within the Community for the purpose of carrying out scientific research,representatives of non-profit organisations aged 25 years or less participating in seminars, conferences, sports, cultural or educational events organised by non-profit organisations.
Valid and current passport. Original and copy of the page or pages with biometric data of the passport. All pages containing data must also be copied in A4 format. The passport must be valid for at least 3 months after the intended date of departure from the Schengen territory and must have at least two blank pages. Passports issued more than 10 years ago are not accepted.

Airport transit visa
Visa with exemption from the requirement of a work permit (stays up to 90 days): this type of visa is addressed to the following categories of people: a) Professors, technicians, researchers and scientists invited or hired by a Spanish university to carry out teaching, research or academic tasks; b) Technicians, researchers and scientists invited or contracted by public entities for the development of a technical, scientific or general interest activity or program; c) Staff of an international scientific mission posted to Spain; d) Professors and directors of cultural or educational institutions that develop cultural and educational programs of their respective countries; e) Civil or military officials who come to Spain to carry out activities under cooperation agreements; f) Correspondents and special envoys; g) Artists (excluding those belonging to the audiovisual sector); h) Religious members; i) Trade unionists and representatives of business organizations)
Visa for the audiovisual sector (stays up to 90 days)
Visa for foreign residents to return to Spain (EXT visa): this type of visa is addressed to foreigners who, having the status of residents in Spain, cannot prove this circumstance because they lack the Foreigner Identity Card (TIE) or a return authorization (Autorización de Regreso), either because the foreigner is renewing his/her TIE or it has been stolen or he/she has lost it. However, those who have an expired TIE and have not started the process of its renewal before their departure from Spain cannot apply for this visa.
DOCUMENT PREPARATION PROCEDURE:
Original documents: Visa application must include original documents. If the applicant wishes to have the original documents returned after the application process is complete, the applicant should include a good quality copy of each document. The Visa Application Center will hand to the applicant a receipt of the original documents. Documents must be presented in the order stated in the list of documents to be submitted depending on the type of visa.
Translation: All documents in languages other than Spanish or English need to be translated into Spanish or English (official translations).
Consular authentication: applicable for documents proving family relationship, especially in the case of minors (Children's Birth Certificate) and spouses without proof of financial independence (Marriage Certificate). Important Note: The Embassy of Spain only legalizes documents that have been previously legalized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam, and only accepts original documents or copies from the original book (CERTIFIED TRUE COPIES ARE NOT ACCEPTED, EVEN IF THESE HAVE BEEN PREVIOUSLY LEGALIZED BY THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF VIETNAM). Dossier for groups of visa applicants: In case of traveling in groups, it is necessary to place the original documents in the visa application dossier of the group's leader and copies of those original documents are to be included in the dossiers of other members of the group. When submitting the application as a group, please make sure to submit that of the group leader first, followed by those of the members of the same group. If there are smaller teams in the group (the same company or the same family, it is desirable to submit applications per order of these small teams for easy tracking and organization. A list of the group members should be made in the above order (the group's leader and then the members of the group divided into small teams, if any), clearly stating their full name, passport number, company name, working position and relationship with the group's leader (if any).
REQUIREMENT OF ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTS AND/OR INTERVIEW: At any time during the processing of the file, this Embassy may require the presentation of additional documents to those already presented and/or the personal appearance of the applicant for an interview if deemed necessary The Spanish Embassy may also request an interview from the applicant. Requests for additional documents or interviews will be sent directly to the applicant via the email address registered in the application, so during the visa application process, applicants should check their email regularly for updates. Update required information from the Embassy (if any). Please note that all additional documents must be presented via BLS.
TIME LIMIT FOR VISA APPLICATION PROCESSING AND RESOLUTION: at least 15 days (not counting the time to transfer documents from BLS office to the Embassy and vice versa). In some cases, the processing time can be up to 45 days. On-time results cannot be guaranteed for visa applications submitted less than 15 days before the intended departure date. Please note that the starting time for processing applications is from the date the visa application is accepted into the visa system of the Spanish Embassy (at least 1 working day after submitting the application at the visa reception center).
APPLICATION FOR RECONSIDERATION / APPEAL: In the event of a refusal to grant a residence permit for reasons of study in Spain or a refusal to issue a visa, the applicant can file an application for reconsideration before the Spanish Embassy within one month from the date of receipt of the notice from the Spanish Embassy. The applicant may also file an appeal before the High Court of Madrid within two months from the date of receipt of the notice of the refusal of the visa or of the dismissal of the application for reconsideration
