Fifth Ministerial Conference on Feminist Foreign Policy: Building Peace and Democracy

On 2 and 3 June 2026, Spain will host the 5th Ministerial Conference on Feminist Foreign Policy: Building Peace and Democracy in Madrid, a high-level global gathering dedicated to feminist foreign policy, women’s rights and gender equality—not only as priorities in their own right, but also as fundamental principles and pillars for advancing global peace and strengthening democracy.

The Conference will bring together more than 700 people, including foreign ministers, representatives of international and philanthropic organisations, civil society and feminist movements, around a common goal: the promotion of equality, freedom and dignity for women and girls worldwide, as an essential foundation for peace, justice and democracy.

Under the slogan “Building peace and democracy”, the Conference is intended as an opportunity to consolidate a diverse coalition of states committed to gender equality and sustainable development, and as a forum to raise awareness of the adoption of a feminist foreign policy, in an international context marked by conflicts, democratic setbacks and rising inequalities.

Furthermore, this Conference aims to drive concrete political commitments, share best practices and promote innovative and transformative initiatives.
