Susana Sumelzo Jordán was appointed State Secretary for Ibero-America and the Caribbean and Spanish around the World at the Council of Ministers held on 19 December 2023.
She holds a law degree from the University of Zaragoza. Senator of the IX Legislature, where she was spokesperson of the Constitutional Commission. Member of the X, XI, XII, XIII, XIV and XV legislatures.
She has held the presidency of the Joint Commission for the European Union of the Spanish Parliament in the XIII and XIV legislature.
Member of the Spanish Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
She has served as a member of the Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Joint Committee for the European Union and has been spokesperson for the Socialist Parliamentary Group on Public Administrations and International Cooperation.
