The Minister for Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares, today signed a strategic agreement between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation and the “La Caixa” Foundation to promote the international dissemination of Spanish artistic creation. The agreement will serve to bring works from the “La Caixa” Foundation’s Contemporary Art Collection to Spanish embassies in major European capitals.
The collaboration agreement with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation reaffirms Minister Albares’ commitment to art and cultural promotion, a commitment he shares with the “La Caixa” Foundation, one of Europe’s leading philanthropic organisations, dedicated to social progress and cultural development.
Touring the major European capitals
The agreement sets out a multi-year touring plan that will enable some of the most representative works of Spanish art to tour various cities across Europe. The first exhibition will open in the coming months at the Spanish Embassy in Berlin and will run until the autumn. This exhibition will focus on paintings and writings by 20th-century Spanish artists, under the title Fragments, Quotes and Passages. Contemporary Art Collection of the “La Caixa” Foundation. After its run in Berlin, the exhibition will travel to the embassies in Paris, London and Brussels, respectively, with dates yet to be confirmed.
The exhibition’s tour has been planned with efficiency and sustainability in mind at every stage of the project: from the selection of sustainable materials to a modular design that optimises resources and facilitates installation at each venue. Furthermore, the installation will be carried out by a small, specialised team of professionals, comprising Spanish fitters and designers alongside some local technicians, to minimise travel and support the local economy.
