The Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation returns to the Madrid Book Fair for the second consecutive year with an Ibero-American Pavilion that aims to become the meeting point for the cultural diversity of the Ibero-American community, in an edition that focuses on humour.

In its first edition in 2015, the Ibero-American Pavilion became the most visited by the public, with more than 70 scheduled activities. This year, the pavilion takes on even greater importance as it serves as a platform to raise awareness of the 30th Ibero-American Summit, which will be held in Madrid next November.

From 29 May to 14 June, the Ibero-American Pavilion has planned more than 50 activities for all audiences, consisting of disseminating, discussing, debating and reflecting on the cultural manifestations of the countries of the Ibero-American community, their authors, their cultural realities and the role that Spanish, Portuguese and the languages of the Ibero-American countries have in the world.

Among the varied program of free activities for all audiences, highlights include tributes to Maitena, Jorge Ibagüengoitia, Rafael Azcona, and Alfredo Bryce Echenique; translators' workshops; a discussion on Puerto Rican Spanish; and various panels reflecting on the limits of humor and the influence of this genre on Ibero-American literature. More than 200 authors will participate in the events, including Gabriela Cabezón Cámara, Andrés Barba, Darío Adanti, Brenda Navarro, Leila Guerriero, Sabina Urraca, María Fernanda Ampuero, Paulina Flores, Juan Pablo Villalobos, Laura Chivite, Raquel Peláez, Bob Pop, Flavita Banana, and Marta Sanz.

Also noteworthy is the III Ibero-American Meeting of University and Academic Publishers, organized by the UNE, which aims to reaffirm the strategy in favor of Spanish and Portuguese as languages of science and research.
