The Minister for Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares, held a meeting today, Wednesday 3 June, with the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Colombia, Rosa Villavicencio, and the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Andorra, Imma Tor Faus, as part of the Conference on Feminist Foreign Policy being hosted by Spain this week. During the meeting, they discussed the preparatory work for the Ibero-American Summit to be held in Madrid this coming November.

The Minister highlighted the commitment shown by the Governments of Colombia and Andorra to the Summit system and to Spain’s proposals to reaffirm and modernise the Ibero-American Community of Nations. He also wished to highlight “their active participation at the highest level in sectoral ministerial meetings, forums and preparatory meetings for the Madrid Summit on matters of great interest, as demonstrated at the ministerial meeting on the Environment and Climate held last March in Málaga, or the digital transition and the development of artificial intelligence”.

The Foreign Minister also met on Wednesday with the Secretary-General of the Association of Caribbean States, Noemí Espinoza, who confirmed her participation in the Ibero-American Summit. The meeting was organised to promote closer ties between the Ibero-American Community and the Caribbean, one of the priorities of Spain’s pro tempore Secretariat, as set out in the Seville Declaration.
