The Minister for Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares, today held a meeting in Madrid with the Minister of Economy of the United Arab Emirates Minister, Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, to explore the opportunities offered by the Spain-United Arab Emirates strategic partnership and deal with the most pressing current international issues.
Both ministers noted the progress made in the Spain-UAE Strategic Partnership, signed in February 2022 through the statement presented by President Sánchez and His Highness Bin Zayed, which demonstrates the excellent understanding between the two nations.
Albares pointed out that, among the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, the United Arab Emirates is the leading destination for our exports and the second regional supplier and the primary investor in the energy sector.
The Minister for Foreign Affairs also welcomed the fact that a greater balance and dynamism has been achieved between sectors of particular importance for both countries, such as infrastructure, transport and the development of renewable energies.
They also had the opportunity to discuss other matters of interest, such as the UAE's growing participation in the international tourism market (where Spain has notable experience) or the orientation of investment efforts towards new growth sectors, such as agrotechnology, green hydrogen or aerospace.
