The Minister for Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares, today received the Nigerian Minister of Foreign Affairs in Madrid, a visit that served to highlight the goodwill existing between the two nations.

Albares and Tuggar had the opportunity to discuss issues such as security and terrorism, economic cooperation, the situation in the Sahel, and Nigeria's role in the Africa Strategy 2025-2028, presented by Spanish President Sánchez on 5 December.

The ministers also welcomed the entry into force on 19 March of two bilateral agreements between Spain and Nigeria: the Agreement on the Transfer of Sentenced Persons and the Treaty on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters.
