Albares launches the Spain-Africa Advisory Council, seeking to strengthen the relationship between our country and the African continent

The Minister chairs the meeting where the body was created. This represents one of the 100 measures included in the Spain-Africa Strategy 2025-2028

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares, this Thursday, 17 July, chaired the meeting to launch one of the 100 measures of the “Spain-Africa Strategy 2025-2028. Working together through a strategic relationship”: The Spain- Africa Advisory Council.

The Minister, during the constitutive meeting of this Advisory Council, explained that its objective will be to reflect on and contribute practical ideas towards strengthening the relationship between Spain and Africa. It will specifically address common challenges at bilateral and multilateral level.  

Albares added that this Advisory Council will also be a tool to help implement the Strategy. It shall meet, in person, on an annual basis. The location will alternate each year between an African country and Spain.

The Advisory Council will have 54 members: 34 African personalities from all regions of the continent and 20 Spanish members. The panel is made up of Spanish and African experts from academia, business, institutions and civil society.

After the launch on Thursday 17 July by Minister Albares, four working sessions on economic diplomacy, public diplomacy, security and governance will be held.
