Albares discusses international agenda and bilateral relations with her Mongolian counterpart

The minister welcomes the upcoming opening of an embassy of that country in Spain and defends the potential of the mutual relationship

Yesterday
The Minister for Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares, held a meeting on Tuesday, 29 April, with the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, Batmunkh Battsetseg, in which they discussed the main issues on the international agenda, such as the war in Ukraine, relations with China, Russia and the European Union, as well as the excellent bilateral relations.

Albares, who received the Mongolian Minister at the Palace of Viana in Madrid, took the opportunity to deepen diplomatic relations with the country, which was reflected in the signing of an agreement between the Diplomatic School and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, the first result of which will be the masterclass that Minister Battsetseg will deliver to the students of the Master's Degree in Diplomatic Relations during her visit to the School.

The close bilateral relationship has clear potential in areas such as the green transition, infrastructure, renewable energy and tourism. Mongolia's participation in the Spanish and Senegalese IDRA (International Drought Resilience Alliance) initiative and its status as host for COP 17 on desertification in 2026 are noteworthy.

In the same spirit, the forthcoming opening of a Mongolian embassy in Spain was celebrated, which will contribute to improving the relationship between the two countries, the growth potential of which was defended by Minister Albares.
