The State Secretary for the European Union (SEUE), Fernando Sampedro, has paid a visit to the Campo de Gibraltar following the meetings held by the Minister for Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares, in the region. This visit is part of the Minister's commitment to maintain fluid communication with the authorities and social actors in the area on the evolution of the negotiations with the United Kingdom and the European Union in relation to Gibraltar and to learn first hand the opinions and concerns of his interlocutors.

The visit was a follow-up to the talks and meetings held by the Minister for Foreign Affairs in recent weeks with the relevant actors in Campo de Gibraltar. Specifically, the meetings in Madrid on 13 May with the Junta de Andalucia, the mayors of the municipalities in the region and other authorities, as well as with economic and social agents, and the trip he made to the area on 4 and 5 June.

On this occasion, the SEUE met with mayors of the region, met with representatives of the Socio-Cultural Association of Spanish Workers in Gibraltar (ASCTEG) and had the opportunity to visit the customs facilities in La Linea de la Concepcion.

Among other issues, the labour rights of cross-border workers, environmental protection, the internal market, as well as the free movement of persons and goods were discussed.
