The State secretary stressed the importance of such international instruments in force as the 1975 Helsinki Final Act, the 1990 Charter of Paris for a New Europe and the 1999 Istanbul Charter for European Security. She also advocated transparency and the exchange of information, and called to establish a positive agenda to step up trust between the parties.
On the sidelines of the meeting, the SEAEG held meetings with several Heads of Delegation, including those from France, Italy, the United Kingdom, the United States and Canada, with whom she coordinated positions and addressed different areas of common interest.
Lines of dialogue
The NATO-Russia Council, which had not met since July 2019, is the main forum for dialogue and agreement between NATO and Moscow. The meeting took place following the extraordinary meeting of NATO foreign affairs ministers on Friday, 7 January, which the minister, José Manuel Albares, took part in, and prior to the meeting of the Permanent Council of the OSCE, to be held in Vienna tomorrow, 13 January.
