Statement on the fulfilment of objectives towards the Lebanese State's monopoly on arms

The Spanish Government welcomes the statement by the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) on the fulfilment of the objectives of Phase I of the restoration of the State's monopoly on the use of force throughout the country. 

Spain will continue to support the Lebanese authorities in moving forward with the next phases of the plan's implementation, through UNIFIL, bilateral financial support and the strengthening of the LAF's capabilities.

Spain urges all actors to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Lebanese State, calling on them to comply without exception with their obligations under the ceasefire agreement and Security Council Resolution 1701.

Spain remains committed to th​e stability of Lebanon and will continue to work with its European and regional partners to achieve stability and lasting peace in the Middle East.
