The Spanish Government welcomes the agreement reached today in Sharm el-Sheikh between Israel and Hamas, thanks to the work of the mediators from the US, Qatar, Egypt and Turkey, to implement the first phase of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza on the basis of the US plan presented by President Trump.
After two years of conflict, this agreement represents a step towards ending the violence, freeing the hostages and allowing the mass entry of humanitarian aid for the people of Gaza.
The Spanish Government urges the parties to act responsibly and to respect the terms of the agreement.
The Spanish Government reiterates its commitment to supporting the implementation of the agreement reached and will redouble its efforts within this new framework to achieve lasting peace in the Middle East, based on the effective implementation of the two-State solution, and will continue to work with its partners for regional stability.
