The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt Dr. Badr Abdelatty spoke with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of the Kingdom of Spain, José Manuel Albares today December 27th, 2024.
Both Ministers reaffirmed the importance they attach to the strategic relationship between Spain and Egypt. They expressed their strong desire to further deepen bilateral cooperation in all fields, especially within the context of the pressing challenges facing the international community. They discussed recent developments in the region, including Syria and Gaza. Dr. Abdelatty referred to the ongoing efforts by Egypt to reach a ceasefire agreement in Gaza.
During the call, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Spain referred to his meeting last month in Madrid with Professor Khaled El-Enany, the candidate for the post of Director General of UNESCO, endorsed by the African Union and the League of Arab States. He reiterated to the Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs the full support of Spain for the candidacy of Prof. El-Enany.
