Official statement on re-establishment of diplomatic relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran

The Government of Spain welcomes the decision by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Islamic Republic of Iran to re-establish diplomatic relations. The two countries are key for security and cooperation in the region.

Spain reiterates its commitment to continue actively contributing to stability in the Middle East through its participation in international peacekeeping operations and its friendship and cooperation relations with all countries in the region, issues that are among the priorities of its upcoming Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
