Condemnation of events in Burkina Faso

The Government of Spain condemns the recent events in Burkina Faso and the announcement of the dissolution of the transitional bodies. 

These events amount to a new hurdle in the path towards compliance with the transition process in the country, to which end Spain subscribes to the call made by ECOWAS to respect the electoral timeline and return to constitutional order in Burkina Faso by 2024.
 
Spain reiterates its commitment to the fight against terrorism and other causes of instability in the Sahel, and to socio-economic development to the benefit of the people in the region.​
