30th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations with Georgia

The government welcomes the excellent development of these bilateral relations over the last 30 years, during which time sound political relations have been forged and economic and cultural exchanges have increased.

Following the pandemic, the contacts between the authorities of the two countries have been numerous: the recent meeting between the respective foreign affairs ministers in the month of May, the phone call between the President of the Government and the President of Georgia in February of this year and the meetings between the heads of government in Madrid in May 2021 bear witness to this. These successes have also extended to economic matters, where Spain has been the largest investor in Georgia in the first four months of 2022.

The Government of Spain wishes to take the opportunity of this anniversary to reaffirm its firm defence of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia and express its wish to continue boosting our relations in all fields, both at a bilateral level and through the European Union.
