The government welcomes the excellent development of our bilateral relations over these last 30 years, during which sound political relations have been forged, firmed up in the Treaty of Friendship and Co-operation between Spain and Ukraine signed in 1996, and economic and cultural exchanges have increased, all resulting in better knowledge and greater proximity between our peoples.
The large Ukrainian community resident in Spain is a good example of the intensity and dynamic nature of our relations, which we will continue to boost in all spheres to our mutual benefit, both at a bilateral level and through the European Union, particularly within the framework of the Eastern Partnership.
Spain wishes to take this opportunity to reiterate its firm commitment to the defence of the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognised borders.
The Government of Spain also reaffirms its full support for the ambitious agenda of political and economic reforms that Ukraine continues to implement, which represent an essential cornerstone for the modernisation and prosperity of the country.
On the occasion of this important milestone in our bilateral relations, the Government of Spain expresses its wishes for peace, well-being and prosperity for the friendly nation of the Ukraine.
