B) RECOGNITION AND VALIDATION OF SOUTH AFRICAN NON-UNIVERSITY QUALIFICATIONS AND STUDIES IN SPAIN
1. The first step to be able to homologate a South African educational degree is for it to have the Hague apostille, which is DIRCO's competence. All the information about apostille and certification of degrees in the: Legalization Section (https://dirco.gov.za/consular-notarial-services/).
2. Secondly, once you have the apostille certificate, you must register on the electronic site of the Spanish ministry in order to submit the homologation application. All the information on how to register in the electronic site and make the application can be found in the following links:
*In case there is a fee that must be paid to submit the application, the proof of payment is part of the documents to be submitted to the Embassy.
*All documents must be submitted apostilled and with a certified translation.

3. Once the registration has been completed on the website and the application has been submitted, a telematic document of the application will be issued, as well as a conditional registration form (volante de inscripción condicional). Both documents must also be submitted at the Embassy.
4. Once the application has been made electronically, it is necessary to go to the consular section of the Embassy - in the absence of a territorial registry office - to present the following documents (please, send an email to get an appointment to emb.pretoria.cit@maec.es):
- The filled in and printed application for the procedure.
- Evidence of payment of the corresponding fee except where recognition of a compulsory secondary education certificate (ESO) is requested.
- The document and the “volante de inscripción condicional" issued during the online procedure (and a copy of it).
- Certified photocopy of document attesting to identity (NIF (tax identification number) / Passport / NIE (foreigner's identification number) / other document).
- As appropriate, an original letter from the person concerned authorising the representative to act on their behalf, together with a document attesting to the representative's identity (NIF / Passport / NIE / other document).
- Verified copy of the official qualification or diploma for which approval is sought or, where appropriate, official certification attesting that the applicant has passed the relevant final examinations.
- Verified copy of the certification accrediting the courses completed, showing the subjects followed, the qualifications obtained and the academic years in which the applicant attended the respective courses.
- When the studies prior to those done abroad have been carried out under the Spanish education system, a verified copy of the official academic certification accrediting these studies, or of the school record or qualification record and/or academic history.
5. The conditional registration form issued during the homologation procedure (volante de inscripción condicional) must also be submitted at the Embassy in order for it to be stamped. Two copies must be submitted. Once stamped, it shall be valid as a certificate of accreditation of the recognition and validation for the duration of this procedure. During the period of its validity, this document should be sufficient to submit any application for enrolment at a Spanish university. However, if at the end of the homologation procedure, it turns out that the foreign degree cannot be homologated as a Spanish certificate, the document will be considered null and void, thus losing all the effects it had had since the moment it was stamped.
6. The documents submitted by the applicant will be sent by the Embassy to the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training in Madrid.
