Francisco Javier de Istúriz Simonet
Dear Friends,
I am writing to you to introduce myself as the new Ambassador of Spain to the Sultanate of Oman, where I arrived a couple of weeks ago.
I have already had the opportunity to meet some of you, in these first days and the others I hope to be able to do so soon. There are not many Spaniards residing in this country, which will allow us, I am sure, to have a greater degree of proximity than is possible in other places.
I would like to learn about it through your experience, as I know that most of you have been here for some time and have been making a contribution to the bilateral relationship and to the development of this country that both governments appreciate very much.
It is my intention, at the same time, to be able to give you the prompt and adequate support that you may need from the Spanish Administration and my personal support in what can be of help to you.
I have noted that our country enjoys an excellent image in Oman and that there is a sincere appreciation for what is Spanish, from the values that drive us as a society and are reflected in foreign policy and action, to our technological capacity and the quality of the products and services offered by our companies. Spain is an important reference in Europe for Oman and for the entire region, with an identity that is very marked by its historical, cultural and artistic heritage, which our Omani friends appreciate very much and in which they are also recognized, as well as for the quality of life in its different regions. That is why I believe that we are in a good position to continue promoting cooperation, mutual knowledge and the strengthening of relations between the two countries, a commitment in which I sincerely believe and to which I will devote all my efforts with enthusiasm.
With affectionate greetings,
F. Javier de Istúriz
