The Dean of Peterborough, Reverend Chris Dalliston, thanked Ambassador Aparici for attending the event, welcoming her to the United Kingdom and expressing his hope that her work here would serve to unite the two countries, just as Katherine of Aragon did.

Ambassador Aparici spoke about the life of the daughter of the Catholic Monarchs, who was Queen of England from 1509 to 1533, describing her as "a woman ahead of her time, empowering, fair, faithful, and strong to the end."

The Ambassador placed a laurel wreath on Queen Katherine's tomb, after which a Catholic mass was celebrated in her honour.

These festivities are part of the Katharine of Aragon Festival, an event dedicated to the first wife of Henry VIII, especially valued by the English for promoting culture, helping the most disadvantaged and supporting the education of women and girls, and one of the most important figures in the shared history between Spain and the United Kingdom.
