The head of the Spanish delegation, accompanied by the Counsellor for Cultural and Scientific Affairs, José María Robles Fraga, was welcomed by the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cambridge, Deborah Prentice. They discussed relations between Spain and the United Kingdom, especially in the academic scope, and explored avenues for collaboration.
The Ambassador visited colleges such as Corpus Christi, Pembroke, St. John’s and King’s College. He met with students from the Rafael del Pino Foundation and spoke with students and professors at the university.
At the Department of Political and International Studies (POLIS), Ambassador Marco gave a talk on bilateral relations between Spain and the UK and their objectives in the global context.
The head of the Spanish delegation also visited AstraZeneca's headquarters and the auditorium the company has dedicated to the renowned Spanish oncologist Dr. José Baselga, where he was briefed on the latest advances on the fight against cancer and other diseases, and met with the Spanish scientist Andrea Vilarrubí.
Finally, the Ambassador visited the prestigious McDonald Institute of Archaeology, where he learned about the latest research and spoke with several Spaniards, including Professor Marcos Martinón-Torres.
