Ambassador Aparici was received by the Deputy Mayor of Manchester, Kate Green, as well as the Lord Mayor, Shaukat Ali, and the Deputy Lieutenant, Lisa Yam. These meetings addressed the growing institutional and cultural cooperation between Spain and Manchester, and the interest of Spanish businesses in contributing to the development of one of the UK's most dynamic regions.
The Spanish diplomat learned about the Old Trafford regeneration project, one of the city's major urban development initiatives, which includes the new Manchester United stadium. She also participated in an event organized by the Spanish Chamber of Commerce for Spanish companies interested in the project.
Accompanied by the Spanish Consul General, Alejandro Polanco, the Ambassador visited the Cervantes Institute and Manchester Central Library. She also stopped off at the Media City UK audio-visual complex and met with its representatives to explore avenues for collaboration.
The Head of Mission went on to visit the facilities of the Spanish company SAICA, where she was received by its President and CEO, Susana Alejandro, who explained the group's activities and its contribution to the region's industrial sector.
