The event was held at the Spanish Embassy and hosted by the Ambassador and the President of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce, an institution created in 1886 that brings together the leading Spanish companies with interests in the United Kingdom.
The Spanish Secretary of State for Trade addressed the evolution of bilateral relations after the departure of the United Kingdom from the European Union and the entry into force of the Trade and Cooperation Agreement, highlighting that Spanish companies have increased their sales in investments in the United Kingdom by 14.5% in 2022 after the pandemic.
The Secretary of State stressed that the United Kingdom is a preferred partner for Spain, and described relations between the two countries as “fluid and strong”.
The British Minister of State for Trade and Commerce praised the growth of commercial relations between the United Kingdom and Spain, despite the difficulties presented by the economic situation derived from the conflict between Russia and the Ukraine.
Following the discussions, the main results from the barometer were presented and round tables were held, in which they discussed the state of the British economy, the energy crisis, and the prospects for British investment in Spain.
