The Ambassador, José Pascual Marco, reviewed the progress made in gender equality in Spain and the United Kingdom. The President of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in the United Kingdom, Eduardo Barrachina, highlighted the growing role of women in economic sector.
Subsequently, a panel of experts, presented by Spanish journalist Eva Millán, discussed the situation of women and the challenges of achieving real equality. Three prominent women participated in the panel: Baroness Royall of Blaisdon from Oxford University; Jessica Driscoll, Head of Immersive Technology at Catapult Digital; and Montserrat Vallet, from the Department of Women and Reproductive Health at Oxford University.
The event concluded with a speech given by Elma Saiz, Minister of Inclusion, Social Security, and Migration of Spain, who encouraged everyone to fight for real equality and outlined some of the government's policies to eliminate the gender gap in Spain. She also highlighted international cooperation to build more equitable societies and emphasized the need for Spanish women to be protected both in Spain and abroad.
