The Ambassador, José Pascual Marco, welcomed the successful Spanish-British scientific cooperation, highlighting the role of Spanish scientists in the United Kingdom and congratulating Professor Emilio Martínez-Pañeda on his award.
Borja Baselga, director of the Banco Santander Foundation, introduced the winner and spoke of the merits of his research on the mechanics of the materials. Professor Martínez-Pañeda's research helps develop new methods to safely store hydrogen, which extends the life of wind turbines and creates more efficient batteries, improving the fight against climate change.
Martínez-Peña accepted the award, emphasizing that these initiatives are vital for young scientists to complete their research.
Javier Pardo-Díaz, President of CERU, explained the history of the award which, “showcases the incredible talent and contributions of Spanish science in the United Kingdom.”
