In Jersey, the Ambassador was welcomed by the Bailiff. He then met with the Chief Minister, Kristina Moore, and the Foreign, Treasury and Transport Ministers, all of whom conveyed their concerns. The Bailiff offered a dinner attended by members of the Government, politicians and the civil society, who brought the Ambassador closer to the reality of the island. The Spanish Representative also attended a session at the Assembly. The Ambassador was bid farewell by the governor, Jerry Kyd.
In Guernsey, the Head of the Spanish legation was received by the Governor, Richard Cripwell, and met with the Chief Minister, Peter Ferbrache, and the Foreign, Treasury and Environment Ministers as well as the Bailiff´s deputy. The Chief Minister hosted a dinner with authorities and representatives of the general public.
The Ambassador also met Spanish residents, many of whom have been living on the island for years and contributing to its wealth.
Lastly, the Ambassador paid tribute to the Spanish republicans who passed through the Nazi concentration camps of Aldernay, and who were used as slaves by the Nazis during the II World War. The Spanish Representative laid wreaths at the Westmount Memorial in Jersey and on the plaque located at White Rock in Guernsey.
