The House of Lords hosted a seminar titled “UK-EU relationship in a volatile world", in which Spanish and British academics analysed the UK's relations with the EU within the framework of the Spanish Presidency, where the main milestones of the Spanish semester were reviewed and the future of European politics was evaluated.
Furthermore, a working dinner was held in the presence of the Secretary General of the EU of the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, María Lledó, attended by prominent British politicians, academics, economics and journalists, as well as the Ambassadors of Portugal and the EU. The Spanish official highlighted the commitment of Spanish society to Europe and the holding of the EU-CELAC and EPC summits in Granada during our Presidency. In addition, she explained the Spanish position on issues such as artificial intelligence or the enlargement of the EU. The British, for their part, praised the improvement of relations between London and Brussels after the Windsor Framework, which has allowed the United Kingdom to re-join the Horizon scientific programme or to have signed a financial collaboration agreement.
