After observing the difficult situation we are facing in the context of the war in Ukraine, the Ambassador encouraged reaching consensus within the EU on energy and economic governance.
Hence, he insisted on the need to advance in the energy transition and depend less on Russia's fossil fuels. In addition, he defended agreements to respond more effectively to inflationary pressures, and to increase investment in the green and digital transition.
The Ambassador acknowledged that after Brexit there exists a regulatory divergence between the United Kingdom and the EU. However, he insisted that reality would sooner or later lead us to negotiate and get closer, given the weight of both financial markets and the liberal nature of our economies.
