The Embassy hosted the opening of the Festival organized by Romancero Books, an online bookshop established in London and specialized in works from the universe of García Lorca, writers from the generation of '27, literature from exile and new voices of the LGBTIQA+ collective.
The Festival was created as a meeting point for readers, writers and people interested in LGBTIQA+ literature written in Spanish. The aim is to make known this literature in the United Kingdom and strengthen links between authors, publishers and translators.
The Ambassador opened the event by remarking on the vivacity of the new Spanish literature, a reflection of a diverse society. Subsequently, a round table was held on the work of Paco Bezerra Velocidad Mínima, which includes eleven fictional stories written by him in the last twenty years.
The Queer Spanish Literature Festival will be held from the 23rd to the 26th November with various activities. Please check the programme here:
