Welcome to the website of the Embassy of Spain in Lebanon.
It is an honour for me to return to this Embassy where I was posted as Deputy Head of Mission in the period from 2004 to 2007 and see the fluidity with which bilateral relations between our two countries are developing in multiple areas.
The Spanish commitment to Lebanon, in particular and, in general, to the maintenance of peace in the region, is reflected in our outstanding participation since 2006 in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (FINUL/UNIFIL) that Spain leads today after the appointment, on February 5, of the Spanish Division General Aroldo Lázaro Sáenz as the new Head of Mission and Commander of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL). I take this opportunity to remember the fifteen Spanish soldiers who have passed away since the beginning of the mission in Lebanon. We do not forget your dedication and service to Spain.
The Consular Section of the Embassy provides the more than 900 Spaniards residing in Lebanon with essential consular services such as Civil Registry or notarial services. Likewise, consular assistance and protection is provided to Spaniards who need it.
With regard to economy and trade, we also have an Economic and Commercial Office that provides services to all those Spanish and Lebanese companies interested in investing, exporting or importing from or to either of the two countries.
Our cultural activity in Lebanon is a particular source of pride. Spain has a Cervantes Institute in Beirut, which has antennas in Kaslik, Tripoli and, soon, in Baalbeck. Currently, more than 600 students learn Spanish in these centres, encouraged by the quality of the teaching that is imparted, which also demonstrates the interest that our language and culture arouses in the country. Throughout the year, the Cervantes Institute, with the support of the Embassy, carries out numerous cultural activities of various kinds, also in close collaboration with the embassies of the Latin American countries residing in Lebanon. All of this is marked by the firm purpose of forging bonds between Spanish and Lebanese artists, increasing knowledge of both cultures and facilitating artistic and educational exchanges among the country's young artists.
All the members of the Embassy team work so that both this website and our accounts on social media such as
Facebook,
Twitter and
Instagram are useful instruments of communication and attention to users, publicizing the activities of the Embassy of Spain in Lebanon and, in short, providing a service adapted to your needs.
