For the payment of traffic fines in Spain, the Spanish Directorate-General for Traffic (DGT) provides several payment channels for citizens residing abroad:
Payment methods:
1. Online (web application)
Fines can be paid through the official DGT online platform. To proceed, the interested party will need the notification date and the case/file number. The notification date is the date on which the notice was received at the registered address or delivered in person by a Guardia Civil officer.
Procedure:
- Enter the total amount of the fine (without applying the 50% reduction). The application will display the outstanding balance.
- If accessing the system with prior identification, the DGT will provide information on any outstanding fines and allow consultation of the sanction record.
- If any anomaly is detected during or after payment, the interested party must request a refund of the fine
2. By telephone

3. Via the miDGT app
The DGT mobile application (available for smartphones and tablets) allows users to check and pay fines.
To pay a fine through the app:
Go to the main menu
Select “My fines" → “Pending"

4. In person- When the citizen is in the spanish territory
- At CaixaBank branches and ATMs (24/7), by card or cash
- At Post Offices (Correos España ), in cash (subject to the applicable service fee)
- If the driver is stopped at the time of the offence, and only in the case of officers from the Guardia Civil Traffic Division, payment may be made immediately by credit or debit card.
