This Consulate is competent to accept only visa applications from individuals residing in the Consular district: Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas.
The process might take up to 2 months, after the reception of your visa file.
Place of submission: Application and requirements must be submitted via postal mail to the Consulate General of Spain in Houston- Visa Department (1800 Bering Dr. Suite 750 Houston, Texas, 77057).
Documents Required
ORIGINAL and ONE COPY of each of the following items:
- National visa application
: It must be signed and filled out correctly. - Passport: Valid for a minimum of 1 year, with at least two consecutive blank pages to affix the visa. Your passport will remain at the Consulate.
- Proof of residency in the Consular jurisdiction: notarized copy of US Driver's license or US State ID.
- Non-US Citizens: Proof of legal residence in the United States: notarized copy of resident alien card, valid US visa.
- Two recent passport-sized photos: White Background, 2x2in, glued to the applications.
- Original document from the Ministerio de Justicia (Ministry of Justice) certifying that the religious organization is duly registered according to the Article 117.h (BOE 103, Ley Orgánica 4/2000, de 11 de enero) that you have been accepted as a representative of the religious organization and that they will assume full financial responsibility for the applicant.
- Original Letter from the religious organization in Spain stating that you have been sent as a missionary/other, describing the activities to be performed, and certifying that the organization will assume full financial responsibility. It must indicate a complete address, telephone number and contact person.
- Criminal record check certificate: Stating that the applicant has no criminal records where they have resided for the last five years. They must present criminal record check certificate issued by the FBI and legalized with the Federal Apostille of the Hague Convention requested to the Department of State in Washington DC. It cannot be older than 6 months from the application date and it must be translated into Spanish by a certified translator. Local State background ceckes and Apostilles are not valid.
- Bilingual Medical Certificate
: Medical certificate issued within the three months preceding the submission of the visa application, accrediting that the applicant does not suffer from any disease that could cause serious repercussions for public health pursuant to the 2005 International Health Regulations. It must be signed by an MD or DO, with doctor´s ink signature . - Proof of Health insurance: from an insurance company recognized and authorized to operate in Spain. The insurance must include all risks covered for Spanish nationals by the National Health System, and for the whole period of stay in Spain. The Health Insurance must not have any deductible, copayment or coverage limit; it must cover 100% of the medical, hospital and out-of-hospital expenses. An insurance card will not be accepted as proof of coverage. Travel insurance will not be accepted.
