A4U stronger than ever

10 de octubre de 2018
Alianza 4 Universidades (A4U) has been successful in gaining Erasmus+ funding, securing 26.600,00€ in the latest round of funding award. Check:

A4U is a consortium of 4 Spanish public universities: Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Universidad Carlos III de Madrid and Universitat Pompeu Fabra  in Barcelona. South African partner universities include: University of Pretoria, University of the Witwatersrand, Stellenbosch University, University of Cape Town, University of  the  Western Cape, and University of the Free State.

Erasmus+ is the European Union programme for more than 4 million young people to study, gain work experience or volunteer abroad. Erasmus+ is designed to modernise education, training, youth work and sport across Europe. The current programme runs from 2014-2020 with a budget of €14.7 billion across Europe. The programme is managed in Spain by the Spanish National AgencySe abre en ventana nueva.

This funding will enable student and staff exchange between university members of A4U and 6 South African partner universities. Bachelor, Master and PhD students as well as teaching and administrative staff from all subject areas from South African partner universities and A4U universities can apply.

Erasmus+ funding covers travel and living expenses from 3 to 5 months for students, and for 7 days for staff. The time spent abroad is recognised by the sending  university, and the obtained credits count towards the student’s academic record. Staff deliver 8 hours of teaching or receive training during their stay.

49 mobilities of staff and students have already been carried out between A4U and its partner universities in South Africa since the beginning of the programme in 2015, and 15 more are expected to take place over the next two years.
