Hunting Permit

​​Foreigners traveling to Spain with the purpose of participating in hunting expeditions should apply for the hunting permit at this Consulate  General of Spain if you live in this jurisdiction, and present the following documents one or two months before departure:

1. Original passport or a legalized copy. (Please note that the Notary should certify that it is a true copy of its original). 

2. Non US Citizens, original U.S. Permanent Resident Card (formerly Green Card) or Visa. (Please note that the Notary should certify that it is a true copy of its original). 

3. Original valid Annual Hunting License and expiration date (valid during your entire stay in Spain). (Please note that the Notary should certify that it is a true copy of its original). ​

4.     Completed Hunting Permit Form  or Special Authorization for using hunting guns in Spain. Sign and date. 

5. Original hunting event invitation letter (by electronic signature or enclosing a photocopy of an original identification document allowing to verify the signatory’s signature), issued in Spanish by the event organizer, it must state:
​o The dates, hunting and the locations where the hunting will take place each day. 
o If the hunter is taking his/her own guns or if the is going to use guns lent by the organizer, in this case, specify it.

6.     In case the hunter is taking his/her own firearms, it is REQUIRED, as well, to add to the documents for processing the  permit  the Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) card  or the Carry License or similar, depends on the the legislation of the  State where the hunter has his/her residence  (Please note that the Notary should certify that it is a true copy of its original). 

7.     Drivers license. Legalized copy. 

8. Consular FeesIt opens in new window . We ONLY accept Money-Order for the exact amount issued to: Consulate General of Spain. 

9. Enclose a pre-paid self-addressed US Postal Service envelope (if applying by mail).​

If you´re traveling with firearms, you must provide the valid certificate of registration for personal effects taken abroad issued by the Department of Homeland Security, U.S Customs and Border Protection.
